Kettle corn, hot dogs, apple picking, and pig races are a great way to get in the spirit of fall. In late September, I visited Eckert's Orchard in Versailles, KY, to hand-pick Golden Delicious and Jonathan apples. The sun was out, with an occasional breeze, and it couldn't have been a more beautiful day.
I highly recommend visiting their country store to get your sweet fix. My favorite thing to get is their apple cinnamon donuts. If you're in a rush, you can purchase pre-picked apples and pumpkins. If you want to pick your own, you will have to pay general admission, which is $12.00 at the gate. This includes ALL of the activities (pig races, corn maze, train, tractor ride, and more). Overall, it was a great experience. I have been coming here for several years throughout the picking seasons with friends and family and it never disappoints. Their pumpkin patch is now open, and the weather is perfect for their tasty apple cider. Plan a day and have fun exploring everything at Eckert's!
